I dont think that there is a way to break it off with someone without hurting them. It is just a decision that you will have to make. He will get hurt. that is the truth, he might not show it but it will hurt, It always does.

Being "hurt" is simply maniputlative! If you've been straight with the guy! If you've lead him on, then you've mislead him and he will be hurt! Is that your goal?

try not to do it at a time where he is realy looking forward to talking to you, my ex-girlfrind did, actualy it was on christmas day, so yeah try to work it out, but if that cant be done just be nice about it

well first of all u cant break up with a guy without hurtin him it is just not possible!! Unless he feels the same way and wants to break up with you!!! WHY DONT YOU JUST NOT BRAKE UP WITH HIM AND HE WONT BE HURT!!!!!! DUH!
