Everyone heals differently. But, I had both of my ears pierced at the top. I was given paperwork that said I could remove the earring in 4-6 weeks. Be sure to use antiseptic on it 1-2 times a day and even an antibiotic ointment to prevent infection. (You can get both over the coounter at most pharmacies). When you DO remove your earring, make sure you don't replace it with any sort of cheap metal. I made this mistake and the ear got very red and swollen. Personally, I had mine done 8 years ago and it still takes adjustment when I put a new earring in. It has never closed up on me. Good luck

It takes a good 6-9 months to FULLY heal. I'd wait for at least 8 weeks from the time of piercing to take it out and change studs... DO NOT leave it out for any longer than it takes to put in a new one, you'll be surprised how quickly it will close up. You don't want to waste the time and money into having to get it pierced again.

Keep it clean. I put antibiotic ointment on mine at night to help keep it clean and make the healing process go faster.

Make sure when you put in a new ear ring to clean it with alcohol... your still healing and don't want to get germs in it. They get infected very easy. Be careful with it.

at least two months with the starter earring, but then u still have to keep some kind of earring in it for a while. For ur ear lobe, its 6 weeks, but for ur cartilage (the upper part of ur ear) its longer. Whoever pierced ur ear should have given u a sheet on how to take care of it.

It's called cartilage, and a few months at the least. If you take it out before that, you will have a difficult time putting it back in, and you might even have to let it close up.The hole will still be very red, bloody and sore. It will sting like hell if you touch the wrong spot! Mine took almost a year to heal. If you get it done with a gun, it will take even longer to heal.

You should wait about 2 months. I took mine out after six weeks and it started to grow back quickly. So I put it back in. Just make sure you keep it clean and keep your hair (if it is long) from getting wrapped around the back of the earring.

I was told to wait three months and it was fine after that. Why rush it....Give it the time it needs to heal or you might not be able to get it back in once its out too soon.
