First and foremost -- start paying all your bills on time every month. And don't take on any additional debt.

This as in all things will take time. everyone has already stated start paying bills on time, next pay down your credit cards so they are less than 50% of the limits. this will greatly improve your credit to debt ratio. DO not apply for any more loans or consolidations, or credit cards, especially Capital one they are the worst. Do not accept all these credit card offers in the mail. DO not let any bills get over 30 days late. There is the basics and again it takes time and consistency. Good luck to you

Depending on how old the bad credit is it may be best to leave it alone and start re-establishing new good credit. Any time you start paying on an old debt it starts the clock over on how long they can collect it and how long the bad credit will remain on your credit report. Make your decision accordingly.

As far as new credit goes - start a savings account and borrow against it. Open a small secured credit card. See if your parents will add you as an authorized user on one of their credit cards.

Good Luck
