Really why do you care what I or anyone else believes?

How has religion affected you personally?

Why is there an utter lack of rational discourse, but rather accusatory name calling

Do you realize how strident and afraid you sound?

Funny how many disdain the question because it has been frequently asked....yet not answered

Atheists seem to make statements, not engage in debate.

You are drawn like a moth to the flame in this forum and you don't even know why.

Drinking won't help either

"Spiritual atheists" are like "jumbo shrimp".

I will make some declarative statements as well

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
Fool is not an insult, it just describes someone who has no understanding.

A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident

The King James Version, (Cambridge: Cambridge) 1769.

You're right. Anytime the name God is even mentioned, they go into a tizzy foaming at the mouth because we DARE to believe in the Truth. They do sound afraid and they want what we Christians have whether they want to admit or not. And how can Atheists be spiritual, when you don't believe in a Heaven or a Hell, or God or the Devil. Explain that one for me if you don't mind.

Wow, like this hasn't been asked before.. what a NOVEL question.. *Drink*

1) this is an open forum where ANYONE can post. Who set you up as the religion police?

2) this is the religion & SPIRITUALITY section. Atheists are very spiritual people. They have questions about religion & spirituality and they belong here.

3) I'd like to know that too.. why do christians keep accusing and name-calling here?

4) Do you realize how redundant this question is? Next time, look to see if it hasn't been asked about 125,000 times before. They don't look strident and afraid. Why are you afraid of them being here?

You know ignorance is not restricted to atheists there are plenty Christians that are just as rude defensive and irrational on here. What do you care what other people believe. Atheists have just as much faith in themselves as Christians have in God so in a very real way it is a religion. As a christian I am glad to see atheists on here. I have the chance to be a witness while they are exposing themselves to the gospel.

BTW I am so fed up with people who ask this type of question.

Religion affects everybody personally, weather we are religious or not.
The biggest ruler in the world is religion.... laws are based on religion in every country in this world. People's behaviour against other people is also based around religious beliefs.... like your question or rather your statement that non religious people sound "strident and afraid".
Whatever your beliefs are......the fact remains if there was no religion in this world, or If one religion were right and true, and followed by everyone we wouldn't be at war right now..... and thousands of people wouldn't be dying needlessly.
That is how it affects me personally.....

Really? How many questions here start out with I have PROOF of god? Who is insecure about their beliefs?

You also make the assumption religion is benign. IT'S NOT. It affects anyone who lives in a country (world) where people want to make religious dogma law.

I also didn't build a "Christian" amusement park and dare to call it a museum. Strident? Insecure? Afraid?

"How has religion affected you personally?"

We have all had our societies retarded by the Dark Ages. That was when the Christian Church set limits on enquiry and scholarship, making us stand still culturally for almost a thousand years. Looking at the way some theists regard learning and thinking on this forum, they'd reinstate the policy like a shot.

I would like to know what it is that the atheists think I would gain by turning to atheism. Every door that is open to them is also open to christians.

why did you ignore yahoo showing you that this question has already been asked before, repeatedly ?

how has religion affected me personally?
stumbling blocks to medical research
laws enforcing religious prohibition (liquor on Sunday, etc)
being woken up by proselytizers at my door
being hounded by religious friends about not being saved

accusatory name calling? when did I do that?

"do you realize how strident and afraid you sound?"
how so? afraid of what, exactly?

Personally i like the diffrent perspectives of non and unbelievers it only strengthens my faith the more and shows they are fullfilling parts of prohetic scripture when they scoff or mock what believers have to say.

I personally think that there are so many atheists in religion because we are living in times when people are needing to use logics and facts for everything. They are not willing to just open their hearts and believe without seeing. That aspect has been totally lost in our society. And the name-calling stems from the fact that Atheists have been known as bad people and they feel the need to defend themselves at all times so that is just one of their defense mechanisms.

Do you realize how many times this question has been asked?

I'm no atheist, but every time I see this question I have to believe that the atheists here are actually more galvanized by it.
