Most people do indeed like their prom date. That doesn't mean he doesn't like you too. Or perhaps used to. You decided you were jealous, and acted accordingly, by avoiding his gaze. People in general don't like being overlooked, by those they know. (especially younger folks) Once you started it, he finished it. It seems you may have misinterpreted his use of the term"boo". A lot use it loosely, that and Boo Boo lol. If you wanted to go to the prom with him you should have told him that, since you didn't , you feel he betrayed you guys "relationship". I know it's hard to be forth coming about feelings at times. But if you miss talking to him, call him or text him and say EXACTLY that. I would find a friend, or another boy to go to the prom with, or a few girlfriends. People will go stag too.

Because it is important to guys to know that they are Loved and they Matter to you.
#1 reason. Are they imporntant enough to you that you think about them almost always, even when they are not with you, and out of your sight and influance.
your response to them if truthful gives them a means of measure.
If your answer to them is yes, this indicates to them that they are important to you, and you appreciate and value, and possibly have love for them.
If your answer is no, then this indicates to them that they have to work harder to gain your interest, and affections.
Lets face it the bottom line is that they would not ask you this question in the first place if they did not care about you.

They are desperate and insecure. Not all guy ask that, just the ones who have a hard time getting a girl.

That's a good question. Guys are weird. I dumped my boyfriend because he would randomly call me ten times a day to tell me he missed me, even if I had just seen him.

Because when you say yes, it boosts their ego to know that someone really missed or cared about them, or possibly just a conversation starter

I don't normally but when i do it is to make her smile. I love to see Rachel smile, so i will like pop up behind her and ask "So sweetie did ya miss me?" and she will blush and smile, it is cute.
That is why i do it.
Some girls on here are right, most will do this to boost their ego and make them feel good though, i have seen that and it even gets on my nerves, i do it like once in a while not everyday

because they want to make sure that u havent been going and seeing anyone. belive me my bf used to say the same thing cause he thought i was cheating on him. and they want to know if u really love them. some guys can tell by the tone of ur voice.

Hey, we ain't the only ones who do that. I admit I do it whenever I'm away from my gf. But she does it to me just as much.
Basically with us it boils down to who thinks of sayin it first.
