Movie Maker 2.1 is available for download with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). You can download SP2, Movie Maker 2.1, and all future critical updates automatically by turning on the Automatic Updates feature in Windows XP.

You can also download SP2 and Movie Maker 2.1 from Microsoft Update. If you cannot use Automatic Updates or download SP2 via Windows Update, order a CD.

Version 2.1 is available for download from Microsoft at the url below. You will be asked for Windows Genuine Advantage to be installed and run, or you can opt for a download from the second site which doesn't ask to check whether your copy of Windows XP is a legitimate copy or not. It does need Windows XP Service Pack 2 to be installed, and can be downloaded directly to your system if you have Automatic Updates turned on.

You cannot just download or install Windows Movie Maker from any website or separate CD-Installer. You can only install from your Windows XP CD-Installer or whatever you have. It is part of a package once you install the Windows XP Operating System or any other Windows Operating System. However, there are trial versions of this software available but it is really scarce and difficult to find. You'd better purchase a Windows CD-Installer and custom install it instead. By doing using custom settings, you can only install the applications you need without having to reinstall Windows.

Go to Microsoft.com and type in Moviemaker. If you're running Windows XP, you probably already have it. If not, you can download any version at Microsoft.com.

If you are running windows XP you already have it; it's tucked away under accesories in the start menu- don't ask me why.
