Medical professionalism is practicing your profession in an ethical and professional manner. In other words your doctor should treat all his patients in a manner which befits his status within the community. He should behave in a courteous, confident, sympathetic manner and put the patient's needs above his own. All his dealings should be fair and honest even if this honesty is sometimes difficult to impliment. If asked a question by a patient, the doctor should answer it factually and not try and mislead the questioner.
All his dealings should, above all, be in confidence unless otherwise requested by the patient. It is a "do as you would be done by" attitude.
