I presently assume you are talking about the one true Christianity; then the many denominations that call themself Christian. The apparent causes are the deviations to God's word that have not been 'eliminated' but accepted by many (at least in hteUSA) presently. The fact that man is as a god (Gen. 3:5-6), has fueled the fire I suspect also.

So true. I don't even call it a religion. There's far too much religion and not enough Christianity.
