I believe blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is not one sin, but persistantly sinning. When a person keeps on sinning knowing it is wrong because God's Holy Spirit tells him it's wrong, there comes a time he doesn't hear the Holy Spirit any longer. He doesn't want to repent and stop sinning . That is the unpardonable sin, because we no longer hear His voice and won't ask Him to pardon us. In the original Greek Matt.12:31 the word "blasphemy" is spelled and pronounce almost like we do in English and means the act of uttering false accusations to damage a person's reputation,. railing, reproachful. Hell isn't anywhere yet. The story of Satan and his followers' destruction is found in Revelation 20 and also prophecied in Malachi 4 in the Old Testament. God loves you and offers you His free gift of salvation - eternal life.

Ok, now this is just my personal view, but I'm Catholic, for what it's worth.
So there is God. The son of God, Jesus. And the Holy Spirit. As I see it, the Holy Spirit is living inside you....well, each and every one of us. We carry within us the power to do good, the power to love and the power to be a believer in God. So, the Bible says (paraphrased)-- that you can sin against the father, and the son and you will be forgiven. God will always forgive you for your sins. But if you sin against yourself....you can never be forgiven. If you betray yourself, you have nothing left.

As you readily indicate, blasphemy against the spirit is a poorly understood matter.
As usual, it is simpler than many recognize.
If a person askes God's help to overcome some bad habit, then PURPOSEFULLY engages in that habit, they sin against the holy spirit.
The 'spirit' is God's force, energy, drive He uses to help us through our woes.
If we purposefully go against it, we have sinned.
God won't burn us for it, but he will take away our gift of life.

the scripture says that the only unforgiveable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.
one day i was thinking on this and doing a bible study about it, and i came to understand, that it is speaking to those who claim to be living for God, but really are living for themselves, they are not doing the Will of God, but their own will.
Jesus gave us the examples to follow, Jesus was always talking about The Father, and doing the Father's will.
Jesus said that he could do nothing of himself, but came only to do the will of the Father.
Jesus said that on that day of judgment that many will say > Lord Lord we did many things in your name, BUT - He will say to them, get away from Me you who work iniquity.
So the blasphemy is those who claim to be living for God, but are living selfishly under their own will.

there's a great deal of battle in the bible... mother nature vs this thing that calls itself god... now even the bible says Satan is the god of this world... mother nature has never referred to herself as god however she has the power and knowledge to heal nature and humanity but won't give them the answers till they give up religion... she has freed a lot of spirit from hell but it is not life just like what heaven was.. she destroyed that... it's all like living in dreams... like the kind we get when we sleep at night.. it is not life...just a program used to manipulate the human subconscious.. She consumed the lies and tries to heal it and return it to nature as it was meant to run... nature has laws... religions don't respect them...
