If you are alive here, then you already are eternal.

I'm sorry but I believe in a loving, benevolent God. Not one that would condemn people for what religion they were born into, or what faith they believe. I believe how we live here helps with how our eternal home is. In other words, I feel everyone is held accountable for their actions in this life, so if someone thinks they got away with murder or other evil deeds, I trust that they will be accountable.

As the old saying goes, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. I believe after we die we return home. And I will never believe in a God that cares more about what house of worship someone goes to vs how they lived their lives. And while many quote various passages, and I respect that is their faith, those are words either of man or interpreted by man. There are also many passages that speak of everyone having a home, so I think that's all in the interpretation, but I'm no biblical scholar. But I've learned enough to know language today is VERY different than in biblical times, and what meant something then is something totally different today, which can make specific translations difficult.

So, I strongly believe we ALL have eternal life....I think we need to worry about how we live this physical one now, and the rest will be there when it is our time.

The idea of eternal life evolved when our primitive ancestors lived on a flat Earth.
Only mentally and emotionally unstable individuals cannot accept the fact that they will croak and rot and that will be the end of them, just as it happens to all living things (fleas, elephants, moss, sequoias) in the world.

On Resurrection Day, the righteous dead in CHRIST will be resurrected for eternity.

1 Thessalonians 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Your question reads: How does one gain eternal life AFTER death.....the answer is they DON'T.

Jesus is the author of eternal salvation to all those who OBEY Him....Hebrews 5:9

THEREFORE those who refuse to OBEY Him will NOT have eternal salvation.

It is what we DO and do NOT do on this earth that will determine our eventual eternal destination.
PLAN OF SALVATION:

HEAR the word of God (Romans 10:17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God

BELIEVE (John 3:16..Mark 16:16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned

REPENT (Luke 13:3 & 5) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish

CONFESS Christ (Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

be BAPTIZED...FOR...remission of your sins (Rom. 6:3-5..1 Peter 3:21..Acts 22:16..Acts 2:38..Gal. 3:27...Acts 8:26-39..Col.2:12..)
Example of the 1 baptism of Eph. 4:5 -And he commanded the chariot to stand still: & they went down both into the water, both Philip & the eunuch; & he baptized him. & when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: & he went on his way rejoicing)

OBEDIENT unto death and ETERNAL salvation will be yours (Hebrews 5:9) And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him

Do you want ETERNAL salvation? Then be in obedience NOW and endure to the end and you will have it.

Christ said that HE would build HIS church (singular) Matt. 16:18...He did NOT say that He would build a bunch of different denominations with conflicting doctrines and traditions that are contrary to the very oracles of God.

Where the word churches (plural) is used in scripture it is NEVER used to designate different denominations, but rather, CHRIST's church in different locations/communities. Example: Corinth, Ephesus, Jerusalem, etc.

ROMANS 16:16 (check out HIS church) :o)
