Last year sometime I went to the state board of equalization and got a sellers permit. When tax time came around I filed and I guess I didn't include that information properly. I didn't use the sellers permit at all. I recieved a notice saying that I need to report that on my tax. I filed my taxes online. How do I go back on the website I used to file and report it on my file? I don't know what section to report it on. The amount will be $0 because I never used it. Can some one tell me how to go back online and report this or make the correction? I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

From the sound of your question, it seems that we're talking about 2 different things. The sellers permit is related to the collection and payment of sales tax. If you had no activity on that and earned no income from that enterprise it would not have an affect on your income tax return so there's nothing to correct or amend there.

You need to contact the State Board of Equalization and find out how to file your sales tax return. You should have received instrucitons on that with your seller's permit.

Your sales tax return and income tax return are totally separate issues. Most states require regular sales tax return filings even if there was no sales activity and no tax is owed. Failure to file those returns on time will often attract a penalty even if no tax is due.

Since you didn't mention what state you're in I can't even point you in the right direction. Many states have a Board of Equalization -- CA, AZ, TN, WY, NE & WA all have BofE and there probably are others as well.
