There is a program available that is basically the same as Microsofts office it is called open office, and it is free, contains programs almost identical to word, excel, and power point. Go to openoffice.org

If you loaned your car to someone for three months to see if they wanted to buy it, and at the end of the three months they said, "Thanks. It's a great car, but I don't want to give it back," how would you feel?

Yes, software comes on cheap disks and is easy to copy, so it doesn't seem worth the money Microsoft is asking, but the fact is that they have the law on their side.

On the other hand, many manufacturers supply MS Works for free on their machines. It's not as whiz-bang, but it'll do most of what you want it to.

One more thing: Any suggestion that you download Office from a pirate site is a dangerous one. Microsoft wants to make money with their software. Not having invested millions developing and marketing it, other people don't, but the copies they're willing to give away are illegal at best, and illegal and dangerous at worst. They may have hidden added malware. Proceed down that path at your own risk.

Have you saved or printed out anything you were working on?
Go to the Library and scan out what you have saved and printed. Save it to disk. Then either redo it on the library's computer or buy a copy or use a friend's computer with the same program and save it to CD/3.5 depending on the size of the project. MPLS
