In Tibet they call it BARDO
bardo means something like 'period in between'
also life is a bardo, between birth and death
after death there will be a transitional state (well described)
and than according to your karma you will have a rebirth or if you succed to get enlightened you will have the choice if to be reborn to help others or remain at the pure level of energy.
This is scientifically being prouved and an atheis can also trust in it. Tibetan Buddhsim is also a science in this sense.
For descriptions on the bardo of death you can find many books and literature also on internet.
The tibetan book of death
I believe rebirth is a sort of ''recycle''
Since we are not just made of body, but there is also energye and mind...those do not just vanish but as everything else, elements and so on....continue to be part of the earth environment.
May be someone goes to another planet as well :-)
ciao

Hello The Holy Bible is what one should go by and avoid what one "thinks" so lets do, in John 11:11-14 Jesus compares death to a sleep, in 1 Thes.4:13-18 we understand what happens to those who are "ready" to meet Jesus when "NOT IF" He returns, in John 5:28-29 there are two resurrections, the one of life then the one of eternal death, in Gen.2:7 we understand God [in John 1 we understand it was JESUS CHRIST was the member of The Godhead that created us] when HE beathed into mankind the breath of life or spirit in Job 27:3 he BECAME a living soul so a soul is what we BECOME not something God pokes into you, in Eccl.9:5 thoughts perish at death, and of all the knowledge you know nothing about don't even know where to look can God live there, if you honest then you just admitted your not a atheist, now humans are to complex even according to science to be just happened, we were designed and of all the places on earth all the countrys to live in those that are safe to live in have as the base of there laws is The Ten Commandments [not suggestions] learn more free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org God bless email me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless

Say, 'The angel of death that has been put in charge of you will cause you to die; then to your Lord will you be brought back.'
And no soul can die except by God's leave, - a decree with a fixed term. And whoever desires the reward of the present world, We will give him thereof; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We will give him thereof; and We will surely reward the grateful
Every soul shall taste of death. And you shall be paid in full your rewards only on the Day of Resurrection. So whosoever is removed away from the Fire and is made to enter Heaven has indeed attained his goal. And the life of this world is nothing but an illusory enjoyment.

well at this point you will either go directly to Heaven or Hell.
The people in Heaven will come back to earth at the battle of Armageddon and be here 1000 years..
The people in Hell will stay there until after the 1000 years and then they will be judged and sent to the lake of fire..
Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

first of all peope cry.
i read that doctors have brought people back after being dead for 30 minuites ( or seconds i cant remeber) and the people say all they remeber is going towards a light and leads me to belive in heaven and eternal life lik ein the bible
but there are other theories that after death and the people(skin organs, everything but bone) goes away
there is also proof of peopel coming "back to life" mostly in ancient times, like when people would get in a coma and then the doctors of those times would think that they were dead but really they werent and then when the graves were dug up hundrteds of years later there were scrach marks on the top of the coffin of the people trying to get out
but this is a scary topic and i realy just belive that after you die, your spirit is still alive nomatter if you go to heaven or he** or any other place you believe in but the peole who knoew you will always feel the spirit of you life around them

That's all, folks.
What happens after death? It depends on whether the human body is buried or not. If it is, and the coffin is wooden, after a few days critters of the insect variety come calling. If it is a lead coffin, you really don't want to see the body after a few weeks. If the body is, say, out in the open, birds and night critters will see it as food. What's left of it will decay and decay till all that's left are scattered bones and bits and pieces of clothing. And maybe hair and teeth. It's really like any other animal remains, which shouldn't be surprising...we are, after all, animals...horses run faster...birds fly...fish go deeper and longer in the sea. But we got a brain. A big brain only a bit of which is really put to use. Ah, humans, you gotta love 'em.

I believe that just as we have free will here on this earth to go about where we choose, we also have the same liberties after death. I believe that we are free to spiritually travel wherever we choose.
Some spirits chose to go back to their original place of birth where they grew up, and hang out... ( and maybe rattle some chains or something for example.)
Some choose to enter the presence of the living by ghostly forms and as a distraction for personal comfort because they are lost or unhappy.
Ghosts and spirits are everywhere and we can't always see them but they are all around us.
I haven't yet decided to believe in a heaven or hell; unless it is defined as the uncomfortable or comfortable place in which you spiritually choose to describe it as.
Some might define hell as what we live here on earth. It is a subjective and personal opinion.
