Because sexual interest is what keeps our species alive--every jack (pardon the pun) one of us owes our lives to it. We know all about how hormone levels can influence sexual response and interest. There's little mystery behind it anymore.

At least, for those who don't think there's such a thing as sin! You know, us logical ones who don't beat ourself up for beating ourself off!

1)"Nocturnal emissions" can come from a few sources. If one had lustful thoughts while awake, it can come out during sleep. Sometimes it can be not related to that, but just because of certain physical activities or even certain foods.
2)Lack of masturbation cause cancer and going nuts ????? Was that in a medical journal or April Fools Magazine???
3)The fact that "everyone does it" (or at least "has done it") doesn't mean that G-d wants it done. Most people have some arrogance or lose their temper on occasion. That doesn't mean that G-d wants it. (Obviously, the harder it is to abstain from sin, the more "understanding" G-d is, and also reflects on the greater reward one gets by not succumbing.

It depends on what you include in your definition of masterbation, I think.

You can't help what happens in your sleep. You aren't conscious of it and you don't choose it.

Onan's sin was not in "wasting seed" but in intentionally disobeying the command to have a child with his brother's widow so that his brother would have an heir, as was their cultural tradition and law from God. (Genesis 44:9-10)

However, if masturbation also includes porn or lusting after someone other than your spouse, the lust involved would be a sin.

If you can masterbate without sinful thoughts, I can't see that there's any sin involved.

So, it depends on what you mean, I guess.

Masturbation isn't the problem at all. It's the thoughts that are being entertained while that act is proceeding. This is just an evidence that we are not clean in our hearts. The only way out of the sin that we hide deep down in the center of our being is to confess it to God and allow Him to create in us a new heart... Jim

The idea of masturbation being a sin is not supported by scripture. I don't believe it's a sin, but it's different for everyone. I think issues like that are between the individual person and God.

There is no verse that explicitly states that masturbation is a sin or akin to fornication. The bible does condemn lust, though, in several passages.

they cant have a nocturnal emmision without thoughts of sex on their mind. By have a disciplined mind that wont happen. Thinking of someone lustfully is committing sins with them in your heart, and that removes us from love, it puts something unneccesary between people.
