it is best to let mum set the pace. i had to handle my cats kittens when they were hours old as i have had to feed them at first she could feed them a little but then 2 and 1/2 weeks ago we had to stop any help from her feeding them. the should be handled by 48hours old as the lil family needs to go to the vet to be checked. always hold the kittens where mum can see what you are doing and if she become anxious to get that kitten back then let her and pick up another one. also when handling the lil ones wash your hands in alcohol gel so as not to spread infections. don't handle them for too long as they need mums body heat to keep warm. the sooner you start the better adjusted they will be.

Anytime as long as the mother doesn't become anxious. Just hold them gently for short periods of time. Actually, handling them a lot from early on is an excellent way to socialize them to people, and they will have better personalities and be friendlier as they grow up.

honestly, i wasn't sure but i waited at least until the third day when i was sure that the mom was finished cleaning them.
I wore those elastic white gloves that doctors wear and i'd pick them up in the box but just hold them with the my hands still in box so that my cat would see that i wasn't hurting them. She trusted us and i wouldn't hold them for too long though just for a couple of seconds... she was fine with it. She'd get this worried face but then she'd go back to cleaning the other ones because she saw that i wasn't hurting them and I'd always place it back in front of her so she'd clean him again.
So yea i waited until like the third day.

We took in a stray and permit her have her kittens at our domicile. I held the kittens interior the 1st few hours, yet as stated above, dont ignore to bathe your arms formerly! Dont hog them too plenty because of the fact they might desire to nurse and can be with their mom. some mom cats may be aggravating with you taking their kittens far flung from them, whether you're sitting perfect next to her. so which you may desire to decide the mummy and additionally the kittens. in the event that they look susceptible, i might enable them to nurse for some days first. i finished up retaining on of them by how. he's 4 years old now. I purely could not area with him. he's the orange cat finding down the drain on the link under and the photographs titled "Tomcat finding on the digital camera" and "Cat on a Window Sill"
