I don't know what state you're in, but according to NY and NJ state law, you can't get a provisional license until you're 17, and a full license until 18.

Plus, and be truthful to yourself, unless you are doing something important and not just going to hang out with your friends, or just to go to the store, you really don't need a car. Cars are expensive; and not just to buy the car. You need to buy registration, which, depending on the car, is $200+. Since you're gonna be a young driver, you're going to be paying $4000 or more a year in car insurance. And, with the rising gas prices (some places $3.10/gal), you'll probably end up paying $35 - $45/week for gas.

If you're ready to deal with those issues then fine. Otherwise, you should hold off on that idea.

life is sometimes oops most of the time unfair and crappy.
When I got my license my parents boutght me a used car but when my sister got hers they bought her one off the showroom floor. I didn't complain I was happy to have a car at all. Maybe you could talk your mom into letting you drive whenever you go out together and she could see how good of a driver you are. Otherwise you are just going to have to wait. Maybe you could ask her why you have to wait and alleviate any fears she has about the subject. If it is just because your brothers had to wait then yes it is crappy but arguing about it is not going to help

The only opinion that counts here is your Mothers. So get over it. Rules are rules. Whining and complaining could delay it even further.

All teens think they are grown up, they are not. Boys are not adults until they are about 28. Then they can still do dumb things. Girls are usually adult by about 21.

Be patient, a guaranteed thing in life is that you are going to get older and hopefully smarter.

Insurance for a teenager is very expensive .

yeah that does suck if u are a responsible person/driver. i was able to get mines right after i got my permit (my mom thought i was responsible enough.....but i aint have a car anyway, so that is probably why she let me get it cause i still wasn't gonna be able to drive) LOL.

in my state u cant drive in the car by urself if ur under a certain age anyway and i think that applies to u also so u might as well wait till then so u can ride all by urself.

why dont you check out the prices on car insurance for a minor aged driver thru age 25 or so? I think it runs about 1500.00 dollars a year and thats just for a crappy car. have that discussion with your parents about how you are going to pay for this privilege and how responsible you are.
because you are complaining...one might think you arent mature enough to drive anyway...too emotional, too reckless

It is not like your mother doesn't think your are a good driver. Remember there are other careless drivers out there. You don't have to hit someone, someone could hit or run into you and your mother just wants you to be a little older before she sends you out there alone.

I am glad that your mom is doing this. I have seen so many accidents among the young population that it isn't even listed as being labeled as accidents. We look at this as being the norm.

They are trying to pass a law for valid licenses to be issued at age 21.

stop complaining...I am 14 and i completely understand, why i and all of my peers are not allowed to drive. Most people 14-15 shouldn't drive, and most likely you have a learner's permit, meaning you need an adult. It is wise of your mother not to get in a car with you. you'll probably crash.
