Well, educated people wouldn't. Have you ever read "Guns, Germs and Steel" by Jared Diamond. Perfectly reasonable explanations that don't have to do with Jeebus, about why Europe could conquor those other countries.
But, yeah, a lot of the homeskoolers (and racists) would tell you that God favored the Euros. What they hate to remember is that it was the CATHOLICS, and nobody remotely related to the First Baptist Church.
