Frontline Plus is good protection against fleas and ticks if you are applying it properly, and you aren't. It needs to be done every 4 weeks, not every 8 weeks for protection against ticks.

Revolution, as one poster suggested, does nothing for tick prevention, it only kills them AFTER they attach and bite your dog and the damage is done. Frontline Plus will start to kill the ticks before they get the chance to bite the dog.

Also, take a look at your yard/garden and see if you can do some thinning to help the ticks find a better place to live. Trim bushes and shrubbery so there aren't any dense, thick places. Mow often, and remove standing water. There are several sprays/powders you can use, but these are often highly toxic and should be avoided.

As another poster suggested, if you live in an area where you can have chickens, two or three will do wonders for removing the bugs from your yard and garden.

Good luck!

While frontline is effective against fleas for up to three months (12 weeks) it is only effective against ticks if applied every month (4 weeks). Giving frontline every 4 weeks instead of every 8 weeks will probably help. Also, keeping your garden well trimmed and weeded will help immensely as ticks generally like long grass at the edge of trees.

If the dog is getting regular flea and tic treatment the tics probaly are not bitting the dog and the tic will fall off . Try a little extra frontline spray before he goes out.

Last I knew, you were supposed to Frontline every 4 weeks, not every 8. You may want to read the directions and see if you're doing it wrong.

Also, try treating the garden. You can use Sevin dust (5%) safely around the dogs and in the garden. Just make sure you wash any fruits or veggies well.

This what I do for my yard. I get the insect killer for your yard that hooks up to your garden hose. It is quite safe especially if you follow the directions for use. It will kill them for up to two months so you must repeat through the summer months. It does great as well as keeps the mosquitoes down and any other annoying pests. Also frontline is a monthly thing every 30 days.

DO NOT put seven dust on your dog, DO NOT. however, keep him out of the garden and yard as best you can while you treat the garden and yard for fleas and ticks. meantime, you're not using the frontline often enough, check with your vet.

Get some chickens.....they eat ticks. I wouldn't junk the dog up with anymore chemicals. I thought Frontline was good for 3 months. Advantix gives better results. The tick dies before it has a chance to stick to the dogs skin. You can also get some tick poison and put it in your yard....maybe they have something so that it's safe for your veggies.

There is a stronger front line that you can ask your vet about. It is especially good to keep ticks at bay. They don't often tell you this unless you ask, as it is quite a bit cheaper. It works on my bishon fries and we live on the moors.

THERE'S STRONGHOLD AND ADVANTAGE, I THINK FRONTLINE IS THE BEST,
DON'T TOUCH OR PULL OUT THIS TICK, YOU CAN GET LYME'S DECEASE FROM TICKS , THEY ARE DANGEROUS & NASTY THINGS,
SPRAY SOME FRONTLINE ON IT, WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, IF YOU DECIDED TO GET IF OFF OF YOUR DOG, YOU HAVE TO TWIST THE TICK SLOWLY
ANTI-CLOCKWISE AND GET THE WHOLE OF THE HEAD AND FEET OUT OF YOUR DOG AND BATHE IT WITH WARM SALT WATER,WATCH THE WOUND YOU DON'T WANT IT TO GET INFECTED.
DON'T TOUCH IT AND BECAREFUL OF THE NASTY HORRID TICK.
GOOD LUCK

Frontline works, and good baths with tick shampoo. And try to keep him away from the garden. ;)
