I want to know if anyone knows of any product in the market that may do the job without stripping the wood.

nope .you do not strip the wood at all..the paintwork needs a sanding to take the rough edges of paint and to help paint to adhere to old paint better..it is not necessary to undercoat again unless you were intending a second coat where the undercoat would act as the first coat

If the paint that's on isn't too bad, there's no real need to strip it right down to the wood. Just give it a good sanding down and paint over it. If the new paint is a similar colour, you might get away with one coat, but if it's a lighter colour, you'll need at least two coats. You could just wash the old paint with sugar soap to get all the grease off, then paint straight over it, but I usually go for the sanding down approach.

Talk to the employee at the hardware store. I've done this before, but the problem is that if I don't put a table runner or some type of cloth on the dresser before leaving items, they tend to stick, which damages the paint. Not sure what type of paint I used, make sure you get something that is appropriate for the material of the dresser, you may need a sealant or top coat.

I don't have enough info to answer specifically so, if it is already painted just paint over it. If the wood is stained or polyeurethaned you have to use a deglosser.
