Neither, the Bible says, "The living know that they shall die, but the dead know not anything...." Eccelisastes 9:5-10 and David says, "The dead do not praise the Lord..." Psalm 115:17 Use a Bible concordance and look up all the texts about the dead - they don't go to heaven or hell right away. Paul tells us in 1 Thess. 4 when they'll wake up!

He is in his grave like all who have died, awaiting some sort of resurrection.

"Marvel not at this, for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good to the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation" (John 5:28-29).

The King James "damnation" is from the Greek word "krisis" meaning separating and contesting.

Hope one day when your eyes are being poked out you'll remember this comment.
