A brain freeze is just a mini migraine. The cold makes the blood vessels in your brain contract causing the pain. Hold your tongue on the roof of your mouth to ease the pain. It helps warm the vessels faster.

well it may not seem like it but your brain isn't that far away from the top of your mouth so the cold can go through or when you eat a lot of cold stuff it can freeze the nerves going up to your brain thus brain freeze. if you get it lay your tongue on the top of your mouth it goes away quicker

They are right about putting your tongue on the roof of mouth to warm the nerves. But it is because the blood vessels dilate not constrict. The same is true of a migraine, dilated blood vessels.
