Do you punish the kid, or the idiot adult who gave the kid the gun?
So why did god punish Adam & Eve instead of Satan?
(and if he truly forgave us, why the whole convoluted mortal suffering, Jesus, redemption thing? Why not just restore the world to perfection?)

If they had not yet eaten from the tree of knowledge, how did they know right from wrong?

If a little boy shoots his sister, no you should not punish the child because children up to a certain age, does not know what he is doing...the adult who gave the gun or made it accessible should be punished because children minds are very changebale. You can mold a childs mind so easily becuase they are still forming. Adam and Eve were punished becuase they had full well knowledge of what would happen if they ate the fruit...they knew what they were doing. Also God knew that that was going to happen and it had to for His plan to be fulfilled

The illustration has flaws.
Adam and Eve knew exactly what they were doing.
Satan didn't GIVE them anything that they didn't have before.
They exercised their free will, and chose to do wrong.
He forgave Adam and Eve because they repented, but Adam and Eve couldn't repent for all mankind. Each of us must do that on our own.

For that matter, why does everybody assume that "the serpent" in the story was Satan?
Regardless, this isn't the best analogy. I think it's more like telling two kids at a summer BBQ that if they eat a slice of watermelon they'll die, then somebody else at the party correctly tells them that they won't die from having a slice of watermelon, and the parents comes back to slap all 3 of them.

Hmm...God said the only thing that I am asking you not to do is eat the fruit. This is a stupid question. Adam and Even knew right from wrong and they knew they were disobeying God.

God punished Adam and Eve because they listened to what Satan told them. And don't worry, Satan will be punished.

God punished satan long before that. Satan, Lucifer, had it made in Heaven. He was one of God's prime Cheribs. Lucifer was believed to be a musical Angel that played songs of praise to God in Heaven. God sent him to Hell for trying to be like God in Heaven.

Because they still disobey God command. and it was a little thing, they brought sin and death into the world..
God is perfect, perfect, without sin,, If you were to even think of looking at God you would die, his perfect..
He loved us enough o send his son so we would have a way and me for one I'm grateful to him. You can go on being an angry person,,
