Why do mom's tend to let themselves go?

Why when we need to be in the best form possible to take care of our families, do we let ourselves go?

Mothers are the nurturers of the earth. We take on the responsibility of the health and well being of every member of our family. We are perfectionists by nature who do everything logically and in order and have a system set up that is so efficient we could perform our daily tasks with our eyes closed.

Because we know how important our jobs are, we often put our needs on the back burner, forever promising to take care of ourselves later, only to be wrapped up in yet another need or want that we have to fulfill to keep our family safe, healthy and happy.

I believe that moms tend to let ourselves go because we feel guilty about being on the top of the priority list. Why should I take a fifteen minute coffee break when little Timmy wants me to read his favorite book for the twentieth time today? Mothers have the most responsibility in the family and dedicate the least amount of time to self.

Self improvement is a choice.Until we can convince ourselves that we deserve the very best, we will continue to be comfortable in last place.

I don't think its a question of letting ourselves go, maybe you feel some what guilty if you focus on yourself a little more, its just there are others that we think about before ourselves. Your kids come first in every way and it takes a lot just to be a mother why focus so much on the way you look as long as you are a good mom, you are taking care of your family and that's why it seems like you let your self go but i am sure there are days when you get the chance to do something with your self. I know i have 5 kids counting my husband lol. it is the hardest job on the planet

Because we are so busy taking care of everyone else that we don't take care of ourselves. I would like to get back in shape, take a few minutes to put on some make up in the morning, and look nice. It is hard to find the time, though. Usually 10 minutes is all I have for myself... just enough to shower and get dressed.... in my oversize sweatpants and tshirt.

Let ourselves go in what way? Maybe we don't always have time for manicures or perfect makeup, but I can still take care of my family with bad nails & no makeup.

We let ourselves go because we have to take care of our families. So many mothers are responsible for EVERYTHING. We just simply do not have time for ourselves in most cases. Sad but true. :(

Not all moms let themselves go and some that do it is not by choice. Childbirth changes a woman's body a lot, as does aging. Why are we suppose to remain thin and beautiful after everything but men are never held accountable for their lack of looks. They get beer bellys, go bald or gray, get wrinkled and we as women love them and accept them. Women are under so much pressure to be like a model it makes me sick. It is not the exterior of a person that makes them who they are. Fat or skinny, we are all the same inside and people need to accept everyone for who they are not what they look like.

We don't make time for ourselves, even though that is SO important! There is always something that needs to be done first...and last! It doesn't last forever, though!

Because some(not all) women just try to be healthy and attractive to trap someone into caring for them...once this is accomplished they can go and be lazy and fat on the outside as well.

Because I don't have the time to look like a beauty queen. Heck, I don't even have time to look human.

It's easier and we have a lot to do. I have 4 kids and it seems like I never quit moving.
