Okay so we met one year ago.Six months or so into the friendship, he explained the pain of his past relationship.Obviously it left him emotionally scarred. He suffers from low self esteem. Hes asked me what I see in him.At times he's caring, and attentive. Then he goes away and we wont speak for a week. His mother and I have gone shopping together.Hes taken me to one of his familys dinners.Introduced me to friends. And yes we sleep together ,minimum twice a month. However, he states that since his last relationship, he lacks compassion, he's told my family members that he loves me, but not me.Hes says he's just not ready for a relationship right now. Will he ever be.Am I wasting my time.I think hes incredible and I just want to be by his side.

Well, he is definately letting you into his life. Maybe he just doesn't like the term "relationship". If he is a really great guy, then maybe you should be patient with him. If this goes on way too much longer though, you should probably move on. Maybe then he will realize what he is doing and finally commit %100. Everyone deserves %100 commitment. I think he will probably come around. He has invest a lot in you. Letting you meet his family and telling your family he loves you is a big deal... Just don't sacrifice your needs for his. Do what is best for you. Good luck

This is a toughie. I think maybe that he does love you ,but is afraid to show it and if he doesn't speak to you for weeks then maybe it's time you focused on getting on with your life. Are you planning on waiting forever for him? If he says that he's not ready for a relationship then just be his friend if you want to. Cut out all the "priviledges" that come with being in a relationship. There's no point in you getting your hopes up everytime he does something "right." Try to slowly by slowly detach yourself and/or have a heart to heart talk with him. If it all goes haywire... there are other capable guys out there who are ready for relationships.
Best of luck.
p.s. These situations are always hard and i feel for you.
