I have observed that they say homosexuality is an abomination (which it is) based on the statement in the Old Testament. However when they are told that the Old Testament also outlaws pork, tattoos, etc. they say that the Old Testament is not to be followed anymore.

Homosexuality is also condemned in the New Testament. Romans 1, and I Corinthians 6, for starters.

However, Jesus said this about food: "For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and is expelled as waste." (Thus he declared all foods clean.)" (Mark 7:19)

The Old Testament Covenant is a stop gap measure until the Messiah came and provided a full salvation. This is why christians are sons and daughters and not slaves.

"For the Law was given through Moses: grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1:17

Some of the Law were mere ritual and food rules as high moral instruction is beyond people who haven't been 'born from above', which is a supernatural rebirth of the spirit effected when a person believes in the Saviour Jesus Christ. The mere food rules like not eating shellfish and pork are not on the same level as for instance behaving well towards others.

Spiritual rebirth is not available in Islam because Mohammed could not provide it; I would say he was never saved, and rejected Christ's salvation very emphatically.

It is still good to become a better and better person, and certainly that is an important part of christian life. But being a wonderful person is not the basis for acceptance into heaven. God's standard is perfection so that is not possible. We are accepted because of God's grace. Christ paid the price for our acceptance - God reckons His righteousness to us when we believe He is who He claimed He was.

Christians have an advantage over mohammedans and other religions in that they have the Holy Spirit - God's Spirit -to help them become better people.

Gah, I asked this once and heard so many Christians nowadays claim that the Old Testament is defunct for Jesus was the “lamb” to clear away its rules and regulations. That is just another scapegoat that Christians use to ignore the atrocities and bizarre crap commanded by their Jehoovah. Even the New Testament clearly states that OT shall not be ignored

There are many different ways to follow. some things in the old testamnet apply today like killing animals for sacrifice isn't usually done today, but keeping your thoughst and actions on god and resting on the Sabbath is. There's many ways to follow. No, Christians are not hypocrites.

As a Christian i say yes. Everyone is a hypocrite in their own way. So for the OT i say it has some good stuff in it because it has you basic stuff that help the NT is just basically supporting it ans give some new stuff that's good for people to. Did you find out why some of this stuff that the OT said wrong? Think about the body, its an art form all in it own. Why destroy it with stuff that's bad for it.

Only certain denominations of Christianity believe that the OT doesnt count. But they are wrong. The OT and NT go hand in hand . Jesus preached the OT, as did the Apostles and they also preached the word of Jesus Certain laws Jesus did overrule such as the food laws. Mark 7 says
. 15Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' "[f]

17After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18"Are you so dull?" he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'? 19For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.")

20He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' 21For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' "

And Acts 10 says

9About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."
14"Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."

15The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."

16This happened three times, and immediately the sheet was taken back to heaven.

As for the sexual laws all of those are still in force and fall under the commandment of do not commit adultery and it is preached through out the OT and the NT

who ever believes that the O.T. is outdated has alot to learn, the whole Bible is God's Word not just some but all, in order to understand the N.T. you havve to learn the O.T. too. The O.T. is just as important to us today as it was back then and just as much as the N.T. I know many do believe that way as well as a lot of churches who don't teach from the O.T.,The church I go to I have to give them credit because they teach the O.T. and the N.T and I do thank God for that..by the way not every Christians is a hypocrite there are some pretty neat and cools ones..

I wouldn't say Christians are hypocrites exactly. The old testament was given to the Jewish people before Christ was born. These were laws that they were to live by. When Christ was born and the new testament was written. He gave us new laws to live by. Such as Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Love your neighbour as yourself and so on.

The word hypocrite means 'actor'. Yes, there are many who claim to be born again, Bible believing, sinners saved by grace who aren't. There are many who are though that have little understanding or knowledge of the scriptures. Perhaps 'immature' is more descriptive.
