I've had 8 spinal surgeries with the harrington rods and srews for mild kyphosis and I'm still bent forward, wnt back to my DR.,he says I'm not that bad andthat my curvage is 41% bent forward. Everyone in my family, my friends and myself know I really look bad so bent over, does anyone know to what degree a person who has had these many surgeries. spine should be. I cannot hold myself up, That was one of the reasons I had these many surgeries along with severe degenative disk disease, but I'm bent worse than ever

I have or had Kyphosis or the usual 'hump back' and it was getting worse so I decided to be proactive, went to Pilates and now it has gone. I strengthened the upper back muscles, got rid of the belly and learn about posture. They were offering Harrington rods, but I was not keen, decided to try my way first. Degenerative Disc disease is not a DISEASE but the natural aging process. The problem with the surgery, it does not last and some say causes more problems in the long run. Now the options are limited as to corrective surgery. Now they will NOT operate or do anything unless your 'internal organs' are affected by the curvature, so if your lungs are sitting on your liver for example. Sorry but I think you have reached the end of treatment.
