sounds like you are made for each other. If you are taking karate to beat people up, you will never learn anything.

The training techniques in karate and in most sports, is designed to help you learn about and train your body. Just like weigtlifting. You should train to improve over what you have been previously able to do, not just be able to lift more than the guy on the next bench.

might as well just punch yourself in the face, declare yourself the winner and go home. everybody wins that way.

I taught Karate for 20 years, and if one of my students could kick my ***, then i would of done my job right, for a student to surpass his master is an Honor to the master mind you, a kick in the middle parts would offten put even me down. and it has happened.

Sure - but be sure to do it in an honrable way.

Challenge him. Be sure he knows you are coming for him for real. Don't bushwack him.

When you beat him you want to know he was giving his all.

Of course. It will teach him to respect you and show that you know your stuff. That you have learned. Isn't that what you are there for?
