Yes. Proportion of atheism is directly proportional to level of education, and level of intelligence.

Just compare the proportions of religious affiliations of Nobel Prize winners and MENSA members to the general population and you'll see what I mean.

It depends on which university. Each university has a very unique demographic. I go to a very liberal school in the Northeast, and I find that an overwhelming percentage of students are either atheist, agnostic, or altogether apathetic. However, my first year of university, I attended a school in Toronto that had many christian organizations on campus, and a lot of students were active in these organizations. I don't think being an atheist makes one anymore inclined toward pursuing higher education. Religious and non-religious people alike attend universities, but the social and religious dynamic of a university might influence which particular school they attend. It would be an enormous generalization to say that atheists are more likely to attend university.

I don't know if it's that there are more atheists in universities or that you find out about more of them because it's usually not a hostile environment to atheism (Liberty University and others excepted).

I know they are less likely to be found in prisons.

Dont have any stats about universities, but I do know that despite being known as "immoral", atheists are underrepresented in prisons.

Fewer atheists go to prison than any other religious group.
