I want to be a vet when I grow up but I'm not sure I will be paid enough to support a family? Help? Animals are my passion! I would love to bring my children to the animal hospital with me and I would just love it! It's the perfect job, but will I be paid enough to support a family? My family won't be with more children then 5 or 6.

Sweety, if you become a vet, you will have enough money to support your family and another family too. I too have a passion for all animals and wish I would have done something earlier in my life. Don't ever quit on your dream. You can do anything you set your mind to. Being a vet takes a lot of dedication, but if its your passion, it will not seem so hard. Money will be more than enough! Good luck and God bless.

I think you are absolutely correct. I would be angry as well. I think this is a big problem with breeders now a days. They are in it for the money-not all of them, some do actually love the animals they breed and take very good care of them. These guys are the exception. Some where in that contract it should state that the kitten has been seen by a vet and deemed in good over all health. It should have given you a certain amount of days to have the kitten checked or that it was guaranteed healthy for a certain length of time. You need to take all the documentation from the vet and shove it down her throat! No, no violence, although people like this make me mad. Any reputable breeder would not send a kitten home in this condition. If your baby has it, more than likely they all have it. Bring it to her attention and see what she is willing to do. If the contract states the kitten to be healthy at the time of the sale, you have her because it most definitely is not healthy. She should have to pay for the expenses of the treatment for this poor baby, not you. Please take some action here. If you don't she skates free and clear and will continue to turn out sickly cats. It is a shame there are people like this. You sound like a great pet owner and hopefully you and your kitten will come out the winners here. Best of luck with the situation.

I have 6 dogs, and I spend a lot on them with my vet. And if you are a good vet there shouldn't be a problem. But even then no mater what you do for a living, if you have children and you love them and care for them that is better than money, but money helps. Work hard and do your best and things will be fine.

Go for it kiddo!

You might never become rich, but you can make a good living, and be comfortable. On top of that, if your skills equal your passion for animals, you will have the respect of a large segment of the community.

As Will Rogers once said: "The best doctors in the world are Veterinarians. Their patients can't tell them where it hurts."

BTW, as you get older, you will probably revise downward the number of children you want in your life.

Trust me...do something you love and the rest will fall into place. Life is too short to have a crappy job. And vets make pretty good money.
