Why would you need that on a jet ski?

It tells you how fast the engine is running.

The analog part means it looks loke a round clock face with a hand that moves (unlike a digital tachometer, which would just display numbers).

The tachometer part tells you how many revolutions per minute the motor is making.

It shows the engine's RPM (revolutions per minute).

Analog means that it is a needle instead of an LCD display (which would be a digital tachometer display)
