Depends on how far away you are when you shoot the person, or when you get shot. The answer would be yes, if it's at close range. When my mom was a kid, she knew someone who got killed with a Red Ryder BB gun.

The original Red Ryder BB guns would bury a BB 1/4" deep in a pine board. Due to liability concerns the power has been greatly reduced. Now they will barely penetrate 2 layers of cardboard.
If you get shot with one, you will know how thin skinned you are.

Higher velocity pellet rifles or pistols using pointed ones can penetrate and cut you.
But no BB gun can penetrate say the skin on your arms, legs, chest etc. In the eye maybe.
BB's just aren't designed to travel at the same velocity as pellets and the fact that they are rounded makes penetration very unlikely.

It depends how close you are and where you hit. From across the yard, a hit in the arm won't penetrate, but it will sting and bruise. Hit somebody in the eye and it will take it out.

No, but it will hurt and leave a hell of a welt. When I was Young and stupid we use to play army with them. You knew when you were dead couldn't argue that you didn't get hit. No one ever had one penitrate their skin. Like I said this was stupid and we are lucky no one lost an eye.

it depends on the range in other words how close the person or object is that you shot . My brother shot me in the butt when i was 11 and they had to remove the b.b. yes they can penetrate skin .
