Sorry, I must have been blind when I saw you use Gordon's name and the word fans meaning he has more than one fan in the same sentence.

I love Jeff; but lets get honest a moment here. Bill Davis is a mediocre Team at best that changes manufacturers at the drop of a hat. To be successful in NASCAR you need to have a great Driver in a great car. Jeff was a great Driver; but Bill Davis at best had good to mediocre cars.

Jeff would not have the fans he has today because if he where still at Bill Davis he would not have the success he has today. Just as Dale Sr. wouldn't have had the success he had if he remained with Junior Johnson.

It takes a great Driver and a great Team to create an Era like that of the Jeff Gordon Era. And thank God he never stayed at mediocre Bill Davis Racing.

I would. And there is something wrong with the question. Bill Davis owns a Toyota team. I am a huge Jeff Gordon fan and if a fan is loyal to a sport and defiantly a driver they would pull for him anyway.

Dude, Jeff Gordon is THE BEST driver in the NASCAR Modern Era. (That does not include Richard Petty, most of his wins are non modern era) He could be driving a damn caprice and still have his fan base. Hell, he could be driving a caprice and still win 6 races a year. All you Jr. fans out there, he will never be as good as his father. And the funny thing is, his father was never as good as Jeff Gordon will be by the end of his career.

The true Gordon fans would still be pulling for him if he was with Bill Davis.

i don't think yall are getting the point. The question is if he were still with that team as in never at hendrix and not having all of the success. Well considering most of Gordon's fans are bandwagoners, he would have less fans because he would not have near the success or poularity that he has today. But on the same token he would have less haters cause he still wouldnt be the most likable guy but if hes not winning than nobody cares.

Someone on here thought that Sr. would have not done as good staying with Junior Johnson .Please don't ever talk about NASCAR again, Junior Johnson back then was an awesome race team far superior to RCR.

Yes , as a true fan will always keep with their driver , does not matter what kind of car he drives and what team he represents. Most Nascar fans do no ask each other , "hey , what team or organization do you route for?" I like Jeff because he is a winner and any team that could steal , and that be what it would be , is lucky because he makes them a instant contender.

Bill Davis is definately not Hendrick and Gordon would have flunked out and be one of those guys driving for Truck championships.

A lot of the fan base, are strong Ford, Chevy, Dodge and now Toyota fans. So they may not follow a driver who jumps to another make of racing car. I have always been a Kevin Harvick fan, but would not follow him as closely if he went to another make of racing cars.
