It has been consistently said there are about 12 Million Illegal Aliens in the U.S., but that has been for a long time (at least 10 Years), and I think the number NOW is significantly greater than that, but I live in a state with a lot of illegal aliens.

The question calls for your opinion, and I would also like to know which state you are from.

There are an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States, with more streaming over the border every day. From radio talk shows to Congress, Americans are debating about how to handle the problem. Conservatives tend to take a low-tolerance position toward illegal immigration, and liberals tend to take a high tolerance-position, but the debate is not easily divided between Right and Left, Republican and Democrat.
President Bush has advocated the creation of a "guest worker" program that would allow non-U.S. citizens to come into America legally to work, but he also has pushed for stricter border security and says he does not believe in amnesty for illegal aliens. Most conservatives consider President Bush's position far too tolerant, while many liberals think he's too harsh.

At least the 20 million estimated a year or so ago by Bears Sterns. That is a business estimate designed for investment decisions, not politically driven. The 12 million extrapolated from the Pew Hispanic Center estimate based on census data (as if they TOLD the census taker about everyone who was here) is less reliable in my opinion.

I'm from Los Angeles, but a lot of the Hispanics here are legal, and I don't extrapolate what I see here into my estimates across the country.

A very rough estimate is 20 million, do not forget that not all illegal immigrants came through the borders illegally. There are millions that had temporary, workers, students, visas that expired and just decided to stay in the U.S.
