Okay, you have 3 months to lose it. And you CAN do it safely.
Some of what you are carrying around may be water weight, so make sure you are hydrated...that is, you are drinking at least 64 ounces of water a day.
I highly suggest signing up with http://www.sparkpeople.com
It is a free weight management web site that helped me lose a good deal of the 112 pounds that I lost, and it helped my mother lose the 85 pounds that she lost. If you would like to see my before and after pics, click on the link on my profile page.
All the best to you!!!

A more realistic goal for August 17th would be about 15 pounds of weight off. You could safely have all 35 pounds off my Thanksgiving Day.
You are in danger of really messing up your metabolism if you go on a crash diet to lose that much weight so quickly.
Metabolism is the rate at which your body burn/uses the food you eat.
You can lose one (1) pound a week safely without starving.
You can lose the weight by walking. Since it is summer vacation for you. I would recommend a 30 minute walk every morning. Perhaps a swim or sport in the afternoon or another walk in the mall . Your mom would really appreciate help with the housework. Have you every tried gardening ... this is a hobby that can really burn the calories... The point is you will not take off weight if you are in front of the TV all summer.
Eat well balanced meals. Chose fruit and vegetables for snacks. Good luck.

Well...that is A LOT of weight to lose in 8-10 weeks. At a safe level of 2-3 pounds a week, you may be aiming for too much in too short of a period of time. I would aim for 20 pounds and then keep on your healthy kick. What happens on August 17th? Do you start school again and is there some even you are aiming to lose for? Be realistic, because if you crash diet and loose too much too fast it is dangerous, and then you usually end up gaining it all back and then some because you didn't approach it the right way...and that is: Exercise everyday, and cut out processed foods, sugars, and junk. Eat fruit and veggies and use olive oil and you will see a difference. Good Luck!

Safe and lasting weight loss is around 1-2 lbs. a week. So there are 12 weeks until August 17 so that will equate to between 12 and 24 lbs. Now, you need to watch what you eat and portion sizes. I lost 20 lbs. just cutting what I ate for breakfast and lunch in half and eating a regular dinner. I didn't cut out any of my favorite foods.
You need to get in some form of exercise at least 3x a week for at least 30 minutes, something to raise the heartrate. Walking, running, swimming, biking, hiking.. are all good suggestions.
Trying to lose weight faster will only make it easier to come back when you stop what you were doing. Do not take diet pills or severly restrict your diet. You may look good for awhile, but when you stop, you'll have a great chance to gain the weight back and your health could be jeopardized.
Good luck

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

A goal of 10 lbs a month involves a lot of dedication, but if you maintain healthy eating habits and exercise 3-4 times a week it can be accomplished. When not exercising do physical stuff you enjoy like bike riding, roller blading. Also if you live or work in a building use the stairs. Every little bit of physical activity will add up.

i think of 35 pounds in 2 and a one million/2 month is slightly too plenty. 4-6 pound's a month is a fit objective. do not permit this stop you from doing what you have planned. Tennis and strolling might have a great result on your metabolism. make the effort to look at what you're ingesting and ingesting, too. weight alleviation is all with regards to the food habitual you have.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
