No. The human animal will still kill each other at the slightest provocation, only those will not be religion based. Just how many people are killed in the name of religion and how many killed in war, accidents, diseases, earthquakes, tsunamis and other man-made or natural calamities, needs to be researched.
The religion gives a man something to believe in, keeps him away from temptations and bad deeds by instilling the cause and effect fear which is not such a bad thing. People need to be kept in check for the larger good of the society.
The caveman had no religion but was the world better then??? I doubt. Because if it was so then what was the need for the thinking man to think up of something like GOD.

Absolutely not! What would have happened to Charlton Heston's (and indeed Mel Gibson's) career without religion? What would Dan Brown have had to write about? How would the American TV Evangelists make their money? Also, if there is no religion, i.e. no God, there is no Satan. What would South Park be without Satan?
No opportunity to take the pee out of the prats on the corner in city centres telling us all the end is nigh!!
And most impossible to imagine of all - no Life of Brian!!!!!!!!!!!

" If you mean to wipe off
all the rust that covers the hearts,
Be sure to utter this
word which is life's true summary;
The man who doesn't see
the nations of worlds as one
Is a rebel even
if the pious claim he's holy.
Listen to my comment
on the strictures of the canon:
Orthodox faith is a ship,
its sea is Reality.
No matter how impregnable
are the planks of the ship,
They are bound to crack and shatter
when waves rage in that sea.
Listen, my loved one,
let me give you a fact beyond this:
The rebel against Truth
is the saint of orthodoxy.
My madness is love for the Friend,
Lover know what my hopes portend,
For me duality must end:
God and I must not live apart.
God permeates the whole wide world,
Yet his truth is revealed to none.
You better seek Him in yourself,
You and He aren't apart - you're one.
We regard no one's religion
as contrary to ours,
True love is born
when all faiths are united as a whole.
Mystic is what they call me.
Hate is my only enemy;
I harbor a grudge against none.
To me the whole wide world is one
The man who feels
the marvels of true love
Abandons his religion and nation.
"You keep trying to use it to entice
The faithful, but what you call Paradise
Cannot boast of more than a few houris
And I don't hanker after their caress.
"God almighty,
why all this talk,
why must we prattle about
a handful of dust?

There has to be some values and some sense of order in order for all of us to live in peace and freedom. However, religion doesn't necessarily have to be the main role in achieving those.
The only thing I would get from the Bible, primarily, is simply to treat others the way you want to be treated (The Golden Rule), and everything else simply falls into place.

If you're referring to organized religion, possibly.
After all what religion has offered to mankind except wars and more wars, lies over lies and fear, so much fear.
Organized religion has only one motto "divide and conquer"
On the other hand, faith is the essence of all human abilities, the source of our power to cope with adversities, discover the wonders of creation, reach for the stars.

No. Problems are not caused by religion. Religion is just used to manipulate people into doing things by unscrupulous leaders.
If there was no religion these leaders would find another way to manipulate the masses.
True believers in God (IN ANY RELIGION) do not make war, plant bombs, murder etc.
