How are the political motivations of atheists any different than that of Christians, when it comes to making laws that affect all of society? On what foundation do they stand when they say "we know what is best"? What makes them qualified to say that my morality is less than theirs?

Theirs is a sin problem not an intellectual one.

If we really look at their objections to what they call "Christians legislating morality", what we find is that they really just what us to condone and even approve of their sinfulness. As if that would change what God says about their depravity. As it is written "All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever." 1Peter 1:24-25.

For 2000 years the heathen has been raging against Jesus with no results.

Not all Atheists claim to know what's best for the human race. Don't you think that the religious ones are doing that ? Telling us all what's best.
What makes you more qualified to say your morality is greater than that of non-believers ?
Atheists have no "sins". That's something only you religious guys have.
Please don't worry about our depravity. We have all that we need or want.
A lot of things are "written", that don't mean beans.
Who's raging against your Jesus ? An Atheist simply does not believe in superstitions or fairy tales. Do you call that raging ? Grow up and cool down. Take it easy, get a beer for yourself. Take a nap.

I happen to agree entirely with the answer you highlighted to make your point, and I'll take you a step farther along.

What you are so quick to paste labels on; as sinners, and sinful, and evil-doers, etc., isn't always agreeable to me. Lots of your ideas and opinions are self-serving, (suitable for those who believe in a divine being - in your case I assume that would be the Christian god and Jesus.) Some of your ideas, your political goals, are aimed at enacting laws that forbid specific behaviors your religion has condemned... I'm very sorry to inform you, but since I don't share your religious tenons I do not wish to follow your rules. It's that simple.

As for wanting your approval to be sinful.. well, that's just nonsense, isn't it? You can stick that kind of thinking and your bible you-know-where. I don't need you or your holy magic blessings for anything at all...

Just a little advice to you. You also don't need any of that god-crap in your life and you know it... Let it go.

Have a nice day.

Oh for crying out loud! I don't blame them for saying that their morality is more than yours. Many religious people retort to bigotry. It's a bummer, but most of them do. It's YOUR opinion that it's "sinful" what they're doing. I'm sick of this. Just back off and leave them alone. They're going to believe what they want. It'd be nice if a Christian and an Athiest actually had an intellecutal conversation for once based on facts and logic. No wonder the Athiests look so much smart than the Christians. *rolls eyes*

No one is more "qualified" as you said to say what is right or what is best. It does not matter the religion or the up bringing. No one is higher up or better than another.

Some religions are against puttin others down based on their "failure to see". It makes you just as wrong to say that they are wrong and unqualified. We are all suppose to live life with an open mind. We can still be true to our religion but it is okay to agree to disagree on situations and still walk away with both sides feeling good.

Hope this helps. We dont find out who is right or wrong untill the end anyways.

Here is the simple answer to your question.

RELIGIONS DO NOT AGREE WITH EACH OTHER.

Unless there is a universal consensus, allowing any single religion to influence other peoples lives is wrong. That is what the person meant when they said "what is best for the human race." Atheism, too, may not be best, but atheists know neither is religion.

I think you miss the point. For the most part, atheists don't really care if someone believes in one god or one hundred gods. However, we draw the line when someone tries to make the rest of us live according to their beliefs.

By the way, quoting from the christian bible doesn't work with anyone who knows it's fiction.

Look at all the wars and bloodshed based off of religious hatred and tell me how Atheists could do any worse.

I personally think Atheist would make a better leader because there open minded. There minds aren't clouded by religion. You know religious people don't make decisions that are good for every one they make decisions on whats good for Christians. Not all the time but that's there foundation.

I'm not going to go beyond answering the main question and forego all the other diabribe:

I'm not going to presume to know what is best for the human race. I will only concentrate on what's best for me and mine, something that no one else knows better than me and mine.

Live and let live.

Atheist is free of some bonds, and can choose answers more clearly.
Keeping people more human using fear of hell\God is more than just amusing. This trick will eventually fail in "modern" society.

Better to raise your kids teaching them what is wrong and what is not. And without religion.

For example - "i cant kill my neigbor, BECAUSE GOD WILL PUNISH ME, AND I'LL BURN IN HELL"

And - "i cant kill him, because killing others of your kind is unhuman, and destructive towards nature of all men, and towards me."

which would you pick?
