Currently thinking about applying for a job a royalmail. I am quite certain I need more than just a standard drivers licence to drive their vans .. so I want to get the licence I need before I apply.

I've had my licence for only 1 year and 10 months would I still be able to get a driving job at royal mail?

If it not a HGV then your license already allows you to drive vans.

Anyone with a full car licence can drive a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes. This includes Ford Transits, Mercedes Sprinters, Fiat Ducatos, Volkswagen LT's and the like.

The only restrictions are for larger vehicles. If you passed your test before January 1st 1997, you can drive a truck up to 7.5 tonnes. Anything larger needs L.G.V. entitlement.
If you passed your test after 01/01/97, 3.5 tonnes is the biggest you can drive without an L.G.V. licence.

Your full driving licence allows you to drive a transit van. Lokk again at your licence it tells you the different vehicles you can drive.

You can drive a Transit on normal car licence. I have driven a Transit Luton and that's about as big as you can go on a car licence.

You will be fine.If you past your driving test before August 1997 you can drive up to a 7.5 tonne lorry with a trailer if you want. After that date i'm sure you can drive medium size commercial vehicles like a Mercedes Sprinter or equivalent so a Transit will be fine.

Standard full UK license entitles you to drive certainly up to 3.5T light vans. A normal Transit wouldn't be any problem what so ever.
