Not really sure what advice you could get about this.

If you don't know anything about anyone to talk/gossip about and you don't care, what can you do?

mention somthing about her being a sub teacher and is not against teacher ettique for her to be gossiping about people in the community as the children are her students?

She will most likely stop the conversation and wont bring it up around you again.

Hope that helps, i hate petty people who have to talk about others to make themselves feel more important.

With great charm and a pleasant smile on your face say, "Oh my! My grandmother told me only lowlifes meddle into the affairs of others. I just don't know what is going on in Mr. Doe's life." The key is to be charming. They will get the message and probably not argue.

I was going to say let information sip out to the community but that can come back and bite you. You can either quite or just show big clues that your not interested and ignore them.

Perhaps you could ask them to take their conversation into a more private location. Tell them that it is interfering with your work, or something. That way, you won't have to hear, and they will not try to include you.

I'm like you. I don't have time for gossips.
Just let everyone know that, that simple.
