I don't have a lot of money to pay for a gym membership or to buy expensive diet food, even just buying healthy food can be hard. Did you ever notice how unhealthy foods like pasta and such are much less expensive then fresh produce? I'm looking to loose 90 lbs. by the end of the year to be at my ideal weight. I was once that weight but over the course of six years I put on that 90 lbs. Tips, exercise ideas, meal ideas, supplements, detox ideas, kickstart ideas...anything is welcome!

First- Find a friend who will join you or support you in your quest to lose weight. Don't make it a competition because it may discourage you if she loses weight faster than you do. Everyone's metabolism is different, thus different rates of shedding fat.

Second- Buy mostly snack foods that are high in fiber. Having a bowl of Grape Nuts with different low sugar yogurts or fruits twice a day can help you lose weight and not feel hungry for a couple of hours. Start snacking every two hours instead of eating three large meals a day. Make sure the snacks are varied and include the most important food groups like protein (cheese sticks, a handfull of almonds, peanut butter on toast, etc.), veggies(especially those in dark green colors and vibrant colors like yellows and reds for antioxidants), fruit (darker the better), and grains. Whole grain food is best to eat and can be bought rather cheaply with whole wheat pastas, crackers, and breads.

Third- Go on a mile walk everyday for a week and then increase the mileage by .5 every week thereafter until you reach the maximum mileage you can walk in a day. This could be 2-10 miles depending on the time available and your level of fitness. Also, before any moderate exercise, see a doctor about your fitness level and any conditions that may need attention before you start.

Fourth- Find 1 lb.- 3lb. weights around the house by doing different arm routines using canned food. Hold onto a full can of beans, corn or what have you in each hand and do squats and lunges if you are capable.

Fifth- If you are an emotional eater it is best to go to a therapist about this to help you control bouts of emotional over eatting.

Sixth- Drink at least 1.5 liters of water a day because it assists with over all health and digestion.

Seventh- Limit your sodium intake to less than 700mg a day. Salt causes inflammation and bloating.

Good luck!

I want to say, I think it's a great idea to want to get in shape. However, your goal to lose 90 pounds by the end of the year (just over 7 months) is not only unrealistic, but it is also very unhealthy.

I'm sure that once you lose the weight, you are wanting to keep it off.. right? Well, studies show, that if you lose weight in such a rapid way (like you describe), your chances of gaining it back are much higher than if you were to take it slowly.

Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. Anything more than that, really isn't recommended. I'm not trying to discourage you from reaching your goal weight. I am, however, hoping that you will see how much better it would be for you to take it slowly, and do it the healthy way.

I know that when you have a lot of weight to lose, the first thing you want is a quick fix, so you can get the weight off as fast as physically possible. I know this, because I too am working toward losing quite a bit of weight. I was where you are now, with the idea that I wanted to lose it as fast as I could. But now I know that to do so, is not only very unrealistic, it is also extremely dangerous.

I would love to wake up in the morning, and have all the weight gone.. but that's not going to happen. It takes a lot of hard work, and a lot of time. There is no such thing as a "quick fix" when it comes to weight loss.

Healthy eating and exercise is what it takes to lose the weight. I spent so long trying everything I could, to lose the weight faster. But trust me, it just isn't worth it. The faster you lose it, the more likely it is that you'll gain it all back (and then some!). I know this, because I've lived this. I once lost 39.5 pounds in just 2-3 months. Shortly after, not only did I re-gain the weight I'd lost, but I also put on 15 extra pounds to go with it. That was devastating to me.. But I did it to myself. I didn't care about being healthy, I just wanted to lose the weight.. and fast. Well, I did lose the weight, fast.. and it all came back, even faster.

Now, I realize that the way I did things.. was what caused me to fail so miserably. I now do things a lot differently. I eat right, and I get plenty of exercise. I'm losing the weight, at about 2 pounds per week now, and I feel so much better now than I did when I had lost all that weight before. I feel better because not only am I losing the weight, but I am healthy. That has a lot to do with it, and I know that this time.. the weight will stay off. It's not about taking a pill, or working out until you can't stand up.. It's about making some lifestyle changes, and getting healthy.

I can do it, and I know you can too!

Here's a link to one of my favorite websites, for not only helpful information.. but for support as well. You should check it out sometime. www.caloriesperhour.com

Take care!

Thats a great goal, you can definately loose weight inexpensively and don't get hung up on the details of it all. In the beginning you will mostly loose water weight, but after awhile a more reasonable/realistic goal is 1-2lbs a week. This is key because you're shedding the TYPE of fat/weight that you want to loose. Fad diets like atkins, south beach, and everything else in between are great at helping people loose water weight and or 5-7lbs total. And more times than not because it is not lost the right way, the weight comes back quickly, and sometimes even more!

I've lost 75lbs recently and the most major thing I've done is to stop eating/buy crap. Honestly. I got smart, and stuck to it. I do not eat anything, ANYTHING with more than 1 gram of saturated fat (because that's the fat that NEVER leaves your body, no matter how much excerise you do!) Also, I watch the amount of sugar, salt and carbs I eat. Don't get me wrong I don't run around doing math all day at the grocery store, and at first it was hard because EVERYTHING now is processed. But I found a few GREAT buys along the way 1 - Ben & Jerry's Frozen Yogurt (half baked) they're cookie dough and brownies in it, and only 3 grams of fat and 0.5g of saturated fat per serving. (compare that to 18g of fat average and 10g of saturated fat in regular ice cream)

A great website for more support and ideas is www.sparkpeople.com BEst of luck!

You want motivation. Get your husband or a pal to head with you to stroll, pastime or get a club to a health club. I used to weigh 197, I'm five'6, sz 14..my target is to weigh 143. Now I weigh 191 & that is seeing that I stopped ingesting soda, consuming quick-meals & junk meals. I substituted the soda for water, junk meals for fruit & quick-meals for selfmade foods. I additionally began consuming breakfast..both a yogurt & banana, cereal or oatmeal. I did not particularly suppose consuming breakfast made a change however it does. Also consuming small snacks for the duration of the day is helping plenty so while it is time for lunch or dinner you will not overeat. I misplaced the ones 6 lbs with out pastime. I was once embarrased of going to a health club seeing that some of the persons already seem have compatibility or skinny. I simply bought a club to a health club a few days in the past. I had under no circumstances been to a health club to exercise so I was once clueless on the way to use the machines. I felt so unhealthy seeing that a man & a lady had been giggling at my husband & I given that we did not understand how to function the gear. I was once embarrased to start with however then I used it as motivation. My factor is do not get discouraged. Don't allow any one placed you down or make you suppose that you simply can not do that. Drink tons & tons of water.....specifically earlier than foods so you'll be able to suppose complete quicker.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

well that wasnt very nice.....

you dont need to have money to lose weight, my suggestions would be jus exercise and drink alot of water. drink water before a meal, it will fill you up more so you eat less, but still eat enough to maintain energy. go for jogs, maybe lifting a little weights. anything aerobic would be good pretty much.
