This deals with a questions posed by someone else on the forum about our assurance of salvation.

1) That most of humanity is not going to make into heaven

2) That our faith and hence salvation is constantly tested by both Satan and our flesh.

3) That everything about us: our emotions, logic, pleasures, and human nature is rebellion against God.

4) That most things we enjoy offend God.

5) That we have two enemies to fight: Satan and ourselves.

6) That we can be deceived so easily.

7) That Satan a once powerful spritual being is after all of us to deceive us and go to hell.

8) That this war for each of us and our own personal salvation is one we cannot afford to lose or eternal torment.

9) That in life humanity is tormented, and that most of us will be tormented eternally.

10) That we cannot run or hide from this fight. We can't avoid this fight.

it is not easy --- I am trying to follow Christ, but often stray. this test will strengthen our faith if we hold fast. Remember, nothing we do will stop him from loving us. His door is open, but we must know which door and get to it --- does that make sense???

It is hard to understand. But as John Piper has said, this is the best-of-all-possible worlds.

"The best-of-all-possible worlds means that God governs the course of history so that, in the long run, His glory will be more fully displayed and His people more fully satisfied than would have been the case in any other world. If we look only at the way things are now in the present era of this fallen world, this is not the best-of-all-possible worlds. But if we look at the whole course of history, from creation to redemption to eternity and beyond, and see the entirety of God's plan, it is the best-of-all-possible plans and leads to the best-of-all-possible eternities. And therefore this universe (and the events that happen in it from creation into eternity, taken as a whole) is the best-of-all-possible-worlds."

We need a real relationship. We need to know that sin is transgression of the law. If we break the law we sin. All have sinned and come short. Our only hope is Christ. So you need to really think about Christ and what he did for you and how he gives you salvation. If you do that, really do that, you will not worry about some of these things, and what you enjoy will change so you no longer do things that offend God.

Christianity teaches you that everything you are, everything you think and desire, everything you do is somehow wrong and evil. Why does God give you a sex drive at 17 and order you not to have sex until you're 25 and married? Why does God give you a tree with fruit of knowledge of good and evil and then tell you that knowledge must be avoided?

I'm not trying to belittle your beliefs, but it sees like you're screwed no matter what you do. I prefer to believe that our desires for learning and growth and pleasure are natural and are to be experienced freely rather than avoided or supressed....
