is there a program to use your house phone on your computer?

i got a phone line jack on my computer.

just want to know.

The phone jack is for your dial up modem. There is a way to use voice over IP to make phone calls with programs such as skype, but the sound is NOT as good as a real phone. I dont understand why people use these but they must have their reasons. I have 1500 unlimited minutes with free nights/weekends and free longdistance. So I dont need it.
