I think the reason why reliigions are formed b/c to not just anwser the general question why did we come about and other things like after death. But seek to be a good person?
Is evil people just using the reliigons just as an excuss to kill inocent people?

The real battle is a spiritual battle:

It's not just evil people doing what evil people do. There is an enemy of mens' souls walking to and fro in the earth. He will distort the good in any thing that man touches, religion foremost.

Considering the man who microwaved his child and people who kill others because "god told them to", then yes.
People use religion to their advantage. To bash people they dont like, persecute those who they hate, etc...
Religion is just a big excuse.
