Isaiah 9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4 For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

When Jesus appeared, he walked in several different offices or roles. He was a prophet, a shepherd, the Meiisah, the priest of a new covenant, the final sacrifice, and the son of God. He was able to fulfill all those roles because he was first God the Son.
The scripture you quoted is one of the prophecies concerning his role as a prophet. There are also many others concern him being the son of God.
One of my favorites is Palms 2:7, which declares the first words God declared to Jesus "I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee" (See also Hebrew 1:5, where it shows the fulfill in the New Testament of this verse)
In that, he is superior to Muhammed, or any of the Old Testament prophets, who were limited to only the role of a prophet.

You are on to something. It was the Word that became flesh - Jesus Christ - who started speaking the Father, Son and Holy Spirit parable.

Isaiah 42:1 "Look! My servant, on whom I keep fast hold! My chosen one, [whom] my soul has approved! I have put my spirit in him. Justice to the nations is what he will bring forth. "
Malachi 3:1 "Look! I am sending my messenger, and he must clear up a way before me. And suddenly there will come to His temple the [true] Lord, whom YOU people are seeking, and the messenger of the covenant in whom YOU are delighting. Look! He will certainly come"
