First, I'm really sorry.
How is she living is she hasn't eaten in a month? It's not really possible. Have you tried switching up her food? Supplement her diet with a high calorie vitamin and mineral gel called "nourish-um". It tastes good so she may lick it fight off your finger.
Realistically, loosing 1/2 your body weight is very disturbing. Cats are conditioned to hide illness so just because she is moving around doesn't mean she's well. She could be masking it. 12 years is a good long life. What kind of quality life is she having now? If she's not in apparent pain and the vet agrees then continue doing all that you are doing to keep her comfortable and treat her condition. Otherwise, you may have to consider preparing yourself for putting her down if that would be the humane decision.
Note: 1/4 of a pepcid is what I give my cat (vet's orders) who has a sensitive stomach to the medications he has to take right now.
Don't overfeed when you have to force feed. Switch up the diet and find something that she likes. When cats turn their noses up at bagged and canned foods, sometimes people have to home prepare meals for them.

Hey hon! I know u love your cat very much and this is very difficult for you. Once the liver fails, then there's really nothing that can be done. She sounds like she has a little liver function left, but not much. You just have to judge if you think that she is still having a good quality of life. If you think she is still having a little fun out of life, then perhaps it could wait a while, but if you think she is suffering, then perhaps it would be a good idea to have the vet put her down. But only you can decide this as a responsible pet owner. I know its difficult, I've had many animals and have had to go though this several times. Just be happy you had such a good cat for such a long time and she is lucky to have you as such a good owner. I know its tough hon, but you can get thru it. Maybe have your parents or friends help you make the decision.

Have you taken her back to the vet since the first visit? Liver problems need regular attention from a vet. If she is throwing up the oral medication she will not be getting the benefit of them.
It depends what sort of liver problems the cat has and what her general health is like as to what her prognosis is. Only the vet who has examined her can answer your question.
If you feel your cat has lost all quality of life (not eating, not happy) and if the vet says there is little chance of regaining her quality of life then you do need to decide what the best decision for her is - continue treatment or euthanasia for her own sake, even tho it will break your heart.

Have you taken her to the vet? Or not? I had a cat a few years ago with that similar problem. We ended up having to put her down... But she just wouldn't eat her cat food so we let her drink milk and she would just sit in her litter box (which was odd for her) all day. On the last day, she wouldn't drink anymore milk at all. My parents took her to the vet and came back with her... and the bad news. So, it's a possibility your cat may be dying... I'm very sorry. We thought my cat could have had cancer. I'm sorry that's happening to your cat =(

Honey, 12 years is pretty old for a cat. Pets never live as long as humans, it's just a fact of life. You're going to have to trust what you vet says about what should be done. I know it's hard to say, but......If she is really miserable, she needs to be put out of her misery. It's the kindest thing to do. But, if the vet feels like she will get through this bad patch, she could live for another few years.

In dog years its times 7 in cat years its times 5 so 12 times 5 is 60 so ur cat is 60 with a liver disiese you do the math some times when you love something you have to let it go instead of having it suffering in pain and aggony i know as bad as it sounds have it put to sleep so it can die peacefully instead of dying in pain and aggony

I'm sorry horizon but I don't believe your cat will be around very much longer. Just like an elderly human, and a 12 year old cat is over 60 in human years, body parts just start giving out. As an animal lover myself I am sorry for your situation. Keep her comfortable and enjoy what is left.......

sweetheart, your cat is old....unless you have the money for the vet to cure her and give her the treatment she needs best thing to do for both you and her is to put her to sleep. Harsh to say but she is suffering and so are you. would you want her to be in constant pain with no treatmetn? It is going to get worse. I have a 13 year old dog and i know his time is coming up but that is a decision that i have to make when it is his time. Dont make her suffer anymore. either take her to the vet and spend hundred and hundred of dollars for her treatment or put her to rest and take all the pain away. She will always be in your heart. One thing though take lots of picture and make an album of her and you and keep it as a memory. sorry dear.

I am sorry to hear about your cat. It is always hard to let go of them when the time comes. I have seen too many times at work that people keeps their pet alive for themselves rather then doing what is right for the pet. Sounds like you are considering it. If she isnt eating and you can tell her quality of life is gone then you know it is time to let her go. They are like your kids and is very hard I know. I have had to put my own to sleep as well. It is nice that we do have this option for them so that they dont suffer. It is a painless procedure for them and they go right to sleep. I know if your kitty could she would tell you thank you for all that you have done for her. Just know that she will be in a better place out of pain and you will see her again someday.
My heart goes out to you during this difficult time.
