Hinduism is not that famous, even though it is the worlds oldest organised religion and the given rise to many religions like Buddhism , Sikhism, Jainism.
Buddha who was a Hindu has taught what Hinduism taught in a different way.
I think Hindus dont want to convert people, and they lihe to have low profile.
They have invented Yoga, Meditation , chanting og hymns and many spiritual things but has not got the recognition it should have.

Don't forget the caste system.
I bet you live in America. We don't hear about other religions here all that often if they aren't trying to kill us or pass laws based on dogma. Hinduism is one of the largest religions in the world. Yes, people know about it.

The Buddha did not teach what Hindu taught in a different way. While there are some similarities between Hinduism and Buddhism, much of what the Buddha taught was a reaction against Hinduism. It would be right to say that he learned his first mediation techniques from Hindus, but the Hindu practices did not take him far enough and he had to discover for himself what the true nature of reality was. His concept of the Four Noble Truths, the 8 Fold path and emptiness and non-self are not necessarily Hindu ideas. This would be especially true for the Buddhist concept of non-self and emptiness and having no belief in gods.
Though you are right, Hindu is a great religion and we should be very thankful for its existence. It has influenced many great thinkers (Buddha being one) and is responsible for many great spiritual practices.
Thank you for your question/comments. Not really sure what your question was?
Namaste!

Some of the world's greatest things r never recognised as great! And this is because the great things don't need/do any advertisement! Let others advertise, this simply shows that they can't do without it. Hinduism, our rich cultural heritage is attracting so many pple across the world as never before, bec of the great treasures of Hinduism, n benefiting thru these. Hinduism is so great that only great pple get an opportunity to explore it!
Lord Buddha did not teach things as a reaction against Hinduism. His teachings were against immoral deeds, not against relegion. He, is considered to b one of Lord Vishnu's form and his teachings were the same as Hinduism, lik the Bhagvad Gita.
The cast system that has got the present meaning of smthng lik divide n rule, did not originate from Hinduism but pples' ideas. Hindu cast system was not made for any kind of discrimination, but unfortunately it got its present meaning.

hello happy guy, first let me tell u clearly that hinduism is not a religion, its not like any islam or christian religions.hindus r people who follow common traditions thats all. so, we can't expect others to change into hindus. according to hindu principles(vedas) we can't force any one to do anything.it all depends on the almighty.we hindus don't like any attention from others so we r like that.but there r many black points which hinduism a false appearance. the main one is the caste systems. take maximum of the religions u can find this. so forgot about religions its all man made.

You said it: they are not into proselytizing. They go on their way, are willing to sell statues and posters to others for their fine art, without insisting they convert. They make incense we can all appreciate without placing any burden on it. They are gentle and sensible people, and we can learn a lot from them.
