Try to eat a well balanced diet, not just reduced calorie. If you are done growing - no fried, fasr, or junk food - even diet junk food.
1] eat 2 servings a day of lean protein - chicken, fish, lean red meat, egg, peanut butter, nuts - check all for serving sizes, not what you think a serving size is!
2] 2 of low fat dairy - skim milk, low fat cheese, yogurt
3] 3 of whole grains - cereal, bread, rice, pasta [ potatoes, corn, peas, and lima beand count as a starch when dieting ]
4] 5 of fruit and veggies
5] 1/2 gallon of water a day - fill up 2 quart pitchers and empty them!
6] take a quality multivitamin with minerals every day - a little of one element makes a big difference in health and weight loss.
7] do 30 minutes of cardio a day, six days a week, while you are trying to lose weight - walk/dance/run/swim/bike
8] do three sets of ten reps each daily - pushups, situps, crunches, and obliques.
You should lose 1-2 pounds a week, at least - while maintaining muscle [ uses more calories than fat ] and toning up your body [ makes you look slimmer ].

Sounds pretty good. Regular oatmeal is better for you (more fiber = more satisfying) than instant. You may want to have prepared veggies (baby carrots, celery etc) around in case you get a snack attack...I honestly don't know if you have enough calories to keep up with your activities, so you may want to check with your doctor. By the way, alot of your favorite meats can be sliced and put right on top of a salad...mmm! Also if you are craving a grain...try Quinoa (pronounced keenwah)...it has alot of fiber, some protein etc and because it is very bland...you can put just about any healthy thing you are in the mood for! I add dried cranberries, celery, onion, garlic & herbs and a pinch of chopped walnuts for a low fat, balanced meal.

Following a diet as strict as yours will work (if it is safe) but you also need regular excersize. You seem pretty determined, so pay close atterntion to your body and be careful. How much you lose will depend on your metabolism and other factors. I hope you will get a physical and discuss your intentions with your doctor.

Cook a 1/3 cup oatmeal so you won't be starving later. Have low fat milk or soy milk so you get some calcium.
forget the bread and have lettuce and tomato with you turkey. no mayo but some smart balance or olive oil drizzled over it- good for heart and hair.
Vary the nuts or you will get bored to death- peanuts are fine and the canned oily ones are good for you. Cashews.
Have a small ( 1 inch square) piece of dark chocolate to add some cheer to this dreariness!
You may notice a pound a week in weight loss. Only weigh yourself once a month. Unless of course you feel you have gained weight and should watch more closely what you are really eating.
Keep a journal. It is amazing what we eat that we don't remember. Like me- about 300 calories that I just plain forget!

Yes, it sounds like a healty diet. Is sounds temporary though and you are sure to lose weight and gain it back when you get hungry again.

Diets dont work. You need a permanent lifestyle change.
Eat what you want, but in moderation. You're body will be starving if you only 20 almonds for dinner.
Eat what you want, but only in small amounts. Your stomach will shrink and after awhile, you wont be hungry as much.

Lisa is right. You need to change your lifestyle.

Find your maitinence level, and then gradually keep reducing your caloric intake over time until you're at your desired weight. Then maintain that weight again by eating at your maitinence level for that weight. If you go on a diet for a period of time and then suddenly eat like you used to, you'll be right back where you started.
