wondering from all the people that have lived such sheltered lives.
Would you steal to feed yourself if you were a kid and your parents were abusive and didnt feed you and you were so afraid to tell anyone because you felt as if you did your parents would beat the hell out of you?

This is a situation out of the book "A Child Called It" a true story from David Peltzer

I was a teen runaway living in the streets. I stole to feed myself then, and I'd steal to feed my family now if I had to.

To answer your question, yes, I would steal in that situation also. That doesn't make it right, but sometimes the survival mode kicks in and you find yourself doing things that are contrary to your beliefs and your moral code. No one is above that no matter what they say.

No, it's not illegal at all. She could think that it ran away, or is a stray. If she's just being vindictive, well, there's no legal problem with that, as long as there isn't any actual 'cat-napping' going on. There's no law against being a jerk. That's just one of the consequences of keeping an outdoor cat. Sorry, I can't feel bad for people who let their cats outdoors, and then complain about things like this, because they don't realize that it's their own fault and could have been easily prevented.

Umm...I think I would call the police or say something to anyone I would be stealing from. We are living in a day and age where this situation is not practical. People don't mind their own business and now even interfere with how people raise and discipline their children. The slightest mention of child abuse will cause a huge stir and the parents will be behind bars in a second and the child will go to a shelter.

Most people would steal if they knew they could get away with it completely and it was an institution, e.g. bank, they were stealing from and not an individual. Doesn't matter whether they have a great need or not.

I know this because we have tested it through the means of the polygraph (lie detector). Just ask the question, "would you steal from a bank if you knew for absolute sure that you would not be caught nor would the theft ever be discovered?". Very few people pass the polygraph when they say, "no". They are very embarrassed when they have to answer "yes" in order for the polygraph to indicate "no deception".

There is no sin in stealing to survive as long as you don't take more than you can eat and share your leftovers with others who are in a similar or worse situation.

Yes, but I wouldn't call it stealing. It's more like survival. I have read the book.

My parents were abusive and did not feed me but I never had to steal. There are plenty good people who will help you out.

I have read all his books and it really broke my heart to see any child go through what he did. I would read through the tear. He certainly had downright evil parents. Their actions was purely satanic..

I don't know. It's hard to say how you would TRULY react in a situation when you have never been in that situation before.

Yes, because a small child wouldn't know any better.
