You need to let the body heal...and rest has a lot to do with the healing process. If you work an injured part of the body you can make it worst. There will be more pain and your doctor may them want an MRI and the cost of those are very high ,even with health insurance. When you feel pain your body is trying to tell you something. So you need to listen to what the body part is telling you.You know that I always wish you the best of luck. One thing you do not want to do is make it so bad you are stuck on pain killers. Please see a doctor if you don't feel better .That is really important.

No. Knee pain/soreness is a sign the cartilage between your bones is thinning out. Go see your doctor.

It's definitely a good idea to talk to your doctor to find out exactly what the problem is and if it's healthy to work out. Once you find out what's wrong with your knee(s), you should start out slowly before building up to a regular workout schedule. Maybe try some yoga if you feel up for it; that sort of relaxed stretching can help with a lot of joint and muscle issues.

Pain is always a sign of an injury. It is best to avoid exercise the injured area. Give yourself a few weeks to rest and heal then start slowley.

You could work out your upper body, but stay away from lower until you feel better.
