This painting is at least 50 years old and was bought at a furniture store in Ada, Oklahoma. It was auctioned off long ago and all I have is this picture of it. Can anyone offer any clues to the artist or title, or anything else that could help me identify it?

I really wish I could help you because it is a well-done painting. But because there is no signature and the style is not easily recognizable (like an Andrew Wyatt or an Edward Hopper painting) it would be almost impossible for anyone knowledgeable in arts to find out who painted this.

But what I can tell you is that it is an unfinished painting. Whoever the artist was who painted this never got around, for one reason or another, to finishing it.

For example, follow the path towards the back of the painting. Here you'll notice a lighter, unnatural area that the path leads into. This area looks unnaturally light not because of some sudden sunlight filtering through the trees but because what you're really seeing here is prepared but unpainted canvas that has yellowed through the years. I also don't think the artist intended to leave the tree leaves as undefined as they are. I'm pretty sure the finished painting would have had more shading, more contrast, in the leaves themselves.
