I only started watching NASCAR this year so I'm still learning but I was wondering, is Kahne too far out now to make the chase? Aside from just doing incredibly awesome from here on out, will he have a chance at the Chase? Or is it way to early to be asking this question?

It IS too late for Kahne to make this year's chase for the Nextel Cup. There are way too many quality drivers on good teams ahead of him. The point differential is not really the problem (he is 310 points behind 12th place right now) but there are 17 other drivers between Kasey and the final chase spot.

It's not too early to ask such a question because now is the time when Teams either need to get rolling or really start losing ground.

It's not too late yet; but Kasey needs to quite living like a Barnstormer and waiting till the last possible second to salvage a season. If he is to make the Chase and make it before they reach Richmond in September; he needs to get up on the wheel right now.

He is a talented Driver; but he is so incredibly inconsistant and he keeps blaming the equipment. If the boys at Penske racing Dodges are doing well there is no reason why Kasey and the rest of the Evernham Team can't start making a run at the Chase.

It's not to late for Kasey to make the chase he just has to start driving better and make up a lot of points. If he could win a couple or races, lead the most laps and finish top 5 or 10 he can make up points and get to where he needs to be. Last year he had to make points to get in the chase and did it.

Actually he's not too far out to make the chase. This year it's based on wins because of Stewart complaining that he should have been in the chase last year because of his wins at the end of the year. But yea there are 12 drivers in the chase this year and it's based off wins, so if Kasey wins races, those will go to deciding if he's in the chase or not.

Kasey will get better! remember how he a a series of bad finishes about mid season last year? well, instead of having that streak in the middle he is having it in the beginning. I have faith that he can make it into the chase. He has done it before he can do it again.

While I say he has the talent to run off some really good races before the chase and thus get himself in.It's not going to happen, whatever is wrong at Everham isn't going to fix itself overnight. They have serious problems, there will come a point and soon, when Ray Everham will start working on next year with his cars.Because to be honest I don't think they have a clue as to whats wrong. So they need to find out and start working on fixes.Of course I could be wrong.

yes, its way too late for Kahne, he's had too many bad finishes to get into the chase, I don't know what changed since last year, but he really needs to turn it around.

Its NOT too late. Hes still got time, he just needs to finish the races and got as many wins, top5's top 10's and lead some laps for those precious bonus points. He can do it if he is consistent

Its still early in the season, I think the win he just got with the Busch series will help motivate him. Its taht COT. He's having a hard time with it, but I think he will be ok.

You would think it is not, this team better get there crap straightened out beginning this week-end. He is running out of time. Some of the other teams have not encountered bad luck yet or had Jose Montoya wreck them yet. Juan's working on that though.
